About Exhibition

Megumi Hayano was born and raised in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1973.  She received M.A. degree in Japanese Painting from Musashino Art University in 1999.  She was awarded an encouragement prize in 21st Century Art Award 2009 from Kumamoto Prefecture, selected from The Ueno Royal Museum Award 2002 and had solo exhibition, “ A day in the zoo”, at Yamanashi Prefectural Museum of art as a report of the results of financial help from Charitable Trust Oki Commemoration.

This is her first exhibition at Gallery Jin.
She deposits layer upon layer of cut out of chipboards, put kumohada linen paper on the surface of them and color them with natural mineral pigments. Her 15 works will be exhibited in this exhibition, Please enjoy looking at humorous and unique expression of her animals.

Adding thickness onto the works produces the strength and complex expression of animals.
I want to approach the fantasy and attractiveness of them in the process of my work.(Megumi HAYANO)
